February 2011 sees the inauguration of the Arab world’s most pioneering initiative on the global fashion scene to date: the Muscat Fashion Week.
Making its mark on the world’s fashion map, Oman is inviting the public, as well as key members of the fashion press, buyers and international fashion icons to celebrate the first-ever Muscat Fashion Week, solely
honouring designers and fashion talent based in the Gulf and South Asia
.
“Arab culture enjoys incomparable expression of style. It has a proud, ancient history whilst remaining in constant modern development, therefore making our fashion culture worthy of a fashion week, at which it is observed on its own and in its full glory,” stated Amina Al Jassim, the well known fashion designer from Saudi Arabia who will be showing her collection for the first time in Oman during the Muscat Fashion Festival.
Muscat Fashion Week will represent fashion styles from throughout the Gulf and its neighbouring countries. Renowned labels will include Omani designers Hanaa Al Wahaibi, Nadra Al Ajmi, Anisa Al Zadjali and Nawal Al Hooti as well as the Lebanese designer Robert Abi Nader, Amina Al Jassim from Saudi Arabia and Shrekahnth from India.
